Case Study: Critical Mass - In-House Agile Training


As a premiere digital advertising agency, Critical Mass has to live up to high expectations from its clients. The development project managers at CM's Toronto office were struggling to provide clients with reasonable forecasts of project schedule and cost when the scope of work keeps changing. They needed a better approach to managing their high-change projects.


After hearing that agile development methods may help solve their problems, CM Director of Operations Nathalie Robertson contacted GenXus for help in teaching a disciplined, structured approach to agile projects to her project managers. Early investigations into agile showed that there appeared to be two camps in the agile world: one that sees agile as a way of freeing delivery teams from structure and rules, and another that sees agile as a way of maintaining flexible and efficient within a structured framework. As GenXus promotes the latter approach, Nathalie engaged GenXus to provide a 2-day training program on a structured approach to agile project management in CM's Toronto facilities.
